Male-Partner Treatment to Prevent Recurrence of Bacterial Vaginosis in Women.

Finally, a study that confirms what many OB/GYNs have suspected all along,  was published in the NEJM on March 6, 2025.

This study found that when male partners of women with recurrent Bacterial Vaginosis (BV) were treated with a combination of two drugs, the recurrence rate of BV was halved in Women.  Treating both partners simultaneously could reduce the chance of reinfection and lead to better long-term outcomes for women.

This approach of treating both partners is a paradigm shift when it comes to managing recurrent BV in Women.
